YAKULT ORGANIZES COLON CANCER SCREENING PROGRAM
Kelantan, July 2022 – Yakult (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. in collaboration with the Pasir Mas District Health Office and Pasir Mas Health Clinic organized a colon cancer screening program which was conducted for two days at the Pasir Mas District Council Hall.
According to the Malaysia National Cancer Registry Report (MNCR) 2012-2016, colon cancer is the second most common cancer in Malaysia (13.5%) after breast cancer (19%). Therefore, the implementation of this program is to increase the awareness in relation to colon cancer, increase participants’ knowledge on the importance of early screening to prevent the spread of cancer cells and to increase the knowledge of the public in relation to healthy lifestyle practices through a balanced diet.
The implementation of colon cancer screening through Immunological Faecal Occult Blood Test (iFOBT) is able to detect colon cancer at an early stage. A total of 300 iFOBT kits were distributed throughout the course of the program.
According to Hiroki Yanase, the Managing Director of Yakult (M) Sdn. Bhd., this program is one of the initiatives from Yakult’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which aims to bring health and happiness to the public. “We hope to increase the level of awareness among Malaysians about the risk of colon cancer and also the benefits of Yakult’s probiotic bacteria Shirota Strain in reducing the risk of this cancer, as evidenced by a Japanese colon cancer research expert, Dr Hideki Ishikawa a”. He also explained that one of the main causes of colon cancer is due to unhealthy lifestyle and diet.
This program, which was organized for the first time, received good response from the residents and also from the Ministry of Health Malaysia where both the Pasir Mas District Health Office and Pasir Mas Health Clinic provided free health check -ups in addition to exhibitions on colon cancer and talk sessions on healthy eating.

YAKULT ANJUR PROGRAM SARINGAN KANSER USUS BESAR
Kelantan, Julai 2022 – Yakult (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. dengan kerjasama Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Pasir Mas dan Klinik Kesihatan Bandar Pasir Mas menganjurkan program saringan kanser usus besar yang telah dijalankan selama dua hari bertempat di Dewan Majlis Daerah Pasir Mas.
Menurut Malaysia National Cancer Registry (MNCR) 2012-2016, secara keseluruhan, kanser usus besar merupakan kanser kedua paling kerap berlaku di Malaysia (13.5%) selepas kanser payudara (19%). Justeru ini, perlaksanaan program ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kesedaran berkaitan penyakit kanser usus besar, meningkatkan pengetahuan peserta berkaitan kepentingan pemeriksaan awal bagi mencegah penularan sel kanser serta meningkatkan pengetahuan penduduk berkaitan pengamalan gaya hidup sihat menerusi pemakanan yang seimbang.
Pelaksanaan saringan kanser usus besar melalui Immunological Faecal Ocult Blood Test (iFOBT) ini mampu untuk mengesan kanser usus besar pada peringkat awal. Sebanyak 300 kit iFOBT telah diagihkan sepanjang program ini berjalan.
Menurut Hiroki Yanase, Pengarah Urusan Yakult (M) Sdn. Bhd., program ini merupakan salah satu inisiatif dari Tanggungjawab Sosial Korporat (CSR) Yakult yang mana bertujuan untuk membawa kesihatan dan kebahagiaan kepada orang ramai. “Kami berharap dapat meningkatkan tahap kesedaran penduduk Malaysia mengenai risiko kanser usus besar dan juga manfaat probiotik Yakult Shirota Strain dalam mengurangkan risiko kanser ini, seperti yang dibuktikan melalui penyelidikan pakar kanser usus Jepun, Dr Hideki Ishikawa a”. Beliau turut menjelaskan bahawa antara faktor utama penyebab kanser usus besar ini disebabkan gaya hidup dan pemakanan yang tidak sihat.
Program yang julung kalinya dianjurkan mendapat sambutan yang baik dari penduduk dan juga dari pihak Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia yang mana Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Pasir Mas dan Klinik Kesihatan Bandar Pasir Mas
turut menyediakan perkhidmatan pemeriksaan kesihatan secara percuma selain daripada pameran mengenai kanser usus besar serta ceramah mengenai pemakanan yang sihat.
